About Me:

Being a full time artist has always been my dream.

I have been creating art since I was 2 years old when my mother first gave me a pencil and a piece of paper to play with. Since then I have always kept something to draw with close by. And if I couldn't find paper to doodle on, a napkin or my jeans would do.

Except for 2 excellent art teachers in highschool, I have had no formal training in the arts. My experience comes from drawing and painting for my self, creating gifts for family, doing commissioned work for friends, incorporating my artwork into the jobs I have held, and volunteering with organizations that allowed me the opportunity to do arts and crafts with children.

My favorite artists include Pablo Picasso, Salvador Dali, Tim Burton, John Lennon and Dr. Seuss. I also admire and am often inspired by the many talented artists whom I have met over the years.

As you look through My Gallery and Shop, you will see that I like to do all types of art but my favorite is drawing. I love drawing with colored pencil and Sharpie markers!

I am inspired by people's faces, children, trees, moving water, rocks, textures, colors, animals, sci-fy & fantasy, loud music, and coffee, lots and lots of black coffee. I explore the world and then I draw, paint, craft what I see, how I see it and how I feel it.

To know me is to know I love art! Creating art, sharing art, looking at art, buying art ... I just love 'being' with art!

While celebrating my 50th birthday, I realized I had started the 2nd half of my life, and if I was going to be an artist when I grew up, I had better start soon!

So here I am: Brenda S Strocen, the artist. Feeling Purple Artworks is the name of my ART business. Please take some time to look through my gallery and let me know what you think. I do hope you enjoy my art as much as I enjoy creating it.

Art has always been my passion and my refuge, and now my goal is to share what I create with the world.
